In Phase 1 of IS101 through the first three quarters of this phase, I felt I had done everything to a tee, yet towards the latter end, I had let up on the amount of time spent focusing on the course, which also showed in my time management and finishing assignments/projects ahead of time, as I usually have done. Going into this next phase I really want to be ahead and above of my assignments and spend more time on my bonus quizzes. Starting the day, every time class ends, I would like to do two to three chapters of LabSim before the day even ends. Also, a goal of mine is to finish and take my Excel exam before the intended time, being well prepared, and getting ahead in moving forward into the next phase.
The topic I chose is (4.10.2 Footnotes, Endnotes, and Advanced Citations). While learning this segment, it for one, honestly showed me something I had no idea Word could even use, but after learning it, I understood just how useful it is. Plenty of times, while typing up a paper, when describing something I may want to reiterate or go in depth on what I'm speaking of, yet it could be viewed as unprofessional and a sentence/paragraph dragging on too long. With this work-around specifically footnotes and endnotes, it makes those situations possible in a format that is more precise and even informative for the individual or persons reviewing that paper. I viewed this as a great benefit in how I can write papers in the near future.
As of this moment, I have already taken the MO-110 Word certification exam. Considering that, I prepared by doing the multiple C.2 through C.3 tasks. Specifically, I spent two to three hours a day of that exam week doing those assignments over and over again while prioritizing the ones I got wrong, making sure I had gotten them right the next time.
In conclusion, I have a positive outlook on this class as I move towards Phase 2. While knowing if I do what is required of the class and complete my assignments on time there's only one outcome for me, and it's to learn new things and succeed.
Hi James, I noticed the Dragon Ball theme on your blog background. I know a little bit about Dragon Ball, but to me it always felt like one of the classic old-school anime that has been around forever. I’m not really sure what the current popular anime is right now, maybe things like Jujutsu Kaisen or One Piece, but Dragon Ball is definitely one of the earliest ones I remember hearing about.
ReplyDeleteI also relate to what you said about trying to stay ahead in this class because once you fall behind in LabSim, it piles up really quickly. The part you mentioned about footnotes and endnotes is interesting because I didn’t realize Word could manage citations that well either. Before this class I thought Word was mostly just typing documents, but it turns out there are a lot of academic tools hidden inside it. Sometimes it feels like we’ve only been using a small part of what the program can actually do.
Glad you have a positive outlook for IS101-3003/5, Spring 2026, James :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, footnotes, endnotes, and advanced citations will definitely help you make your papers more precise and even more informative ^_^
I look forward to you achieving your goal of taking the MO-210 Excel certification exam ahead of schedule and participating in more bonus quizzes!
Hello James. It's a good tactic to affirm your goals publicly, when I do that I usually get embarrassed when I don't follow them. I was so excited when I learned about footnotes, endnotes, and advanced citations. I usually go on a tangent in papers trying to explain the information right then and there, but this provides an easy way for the reader to interact with the paper if they didn't know a certain phrase or definition before. I'm happy that you have a positive mindset moving forward.
ReplyDeleteHi James!! Footnotes and Endnotes is actually a really useful topic. I didn’t realize how much they can improve the flow of writing until learning about them too—it definitely helps avoid those long, messy explanations in the main text.
ReplyDeleteI liked your explanation about how footnotes and endnotes can help you when writing an essay. Before taking this class, I would add background information about a topic that didn’t support my main point into the body of my essay. However, footnotes and endnotes are a place to put background information about a topic so it doesn’t affect the length of a paragraph.
ReplyDeleteHey James, it seems you've found a good strategy to help you conquer your journey throughout this class. It's reassuring to know that many people like you have a positive outlook moving forward, which inspires me to keep going and not give up. Learning new things and succeeding is the ultimate goal. Hope you have a great semester!
ReplyDeleteHello James, I feel the same way about my level of focus it got more difficult as time went on to stay as committed. Learning and succeeding is very important and it seems like you are spending a large amount of time trying to perfect your knowledge.
ReplyDeleteHi James, Footnotes and Endnotes were something that I also found surprising, since at the beginning of phase 1, I didn't know too much about Microsoft Word.
ReplyDeleteHello James, I also had no idea Word was able to automatically add footnotes and endnotes definitely something to use to going forward.
ReplyDeleteHi James, congrats on finishing MO110 early, it definitely takes a lot of focus and time management to do so, don't get too hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteHey James!! Good job keeping up with IS101! Glad to hear you are enjoying this class!
ReplyDeleteHi, James
ReplyDeleteI hope you were able to finish the MOS Excel exam ahead of schedule.
Hi James, I like how you set a goal, and I know you’ll make it, not just for this class, but for every class you take in the coming semesters. And choosing footnotes and endnotes was a great call, they really do make academic writing cleaner and more professional.

ReplyDeleteThat chapter in Word is actually super useful. While it is not taught in English classes, it is still something in the back of my mind to consider when writing a paper. I am also surprised how Word has so much features that we don't even use but still useful in given situations.
ReplyDeleteI like your mindset going into Phase 2. Staying ahead on assignments really does make the class less stressful. Also, the point you made about footnotes and endnotes was good because they definitely help make papers look more professional.
ReplyDeleteHi James, I liked your honest reflection on how your time management shifted later in the phase and your plan to get back ahead.
ReplyDeleteHey James, I dig the background for the blog! What I appreciate about this class is that the Professor had due dates well in advance and that had to teach all of us when we could do our work, we all have our own lives but the discipline shows when I tried my best to make sure my assignments were turned in on time!
ReplyDeleteHey James! Refreshing to see someone with a positive outlook :) I also like the topic you picked. I used to have a class that required citations and 4.10.2 could've saved me the time and pain haha.
ReplyDeleteHello James. Great job with MO-110! I'm glad you had a positive outlook for Phase 2.
